Description
直線偏光を出射する表示装置に取り付けられる光学的フィルターであって、偏光性がない又は偏光性が小さい部材と、直線偏光板と、第1及び第2の位相差板とを備え、上記直線偏光板と上記第2の位相差板とを、これらを通して表示装置に向けて入射した外光の反射を防止する構成とし、上記表示装置からの光が上記第1の位相差板を通過した後に上記第2の位相差板及び上記直線偏光板を通過するようにし、上記第1及び第2の位相差板による位相の変化量を上記表示装置からの光が上記直線偏光板を光学的に最良の状態で通過するように設定したことを特徴とする。
第14の手段は、第12又は13の手段にかかる光学的フィルターにおいて、上記透明タッチパネル装置の一部と、上記第1の位相差板と、上記液晶表示装置の一部と、のいずれか2以上を1つの部材で兼ねたことを特徴とする。

24.3このように、本実施の形態に係る円偏光十位相差方式の視認度が、従来に比ベて、著しく向上していることがわかる。
/住友化学工業(株)社製透明タッチパネルガラス3,4 /同和ビジユアルシステム(株)社製第1の位相差板11SEFー1/4λ
/住友化学工業(株)社製上部に付けた円偏光板8により、ITO5の表面及びガラス3,4の表面からの反射を防止している。さらに、下部ガラス3に付けた第1の位相差板11により、円偏光板8による透過率の低下と色相の変化を改善している。
/同和ビジユアルシステム(株)社製ポリカーボネートフィルム13(位相差40〜50nm)第1の位相差板11SEFー1/4λ /住友化学工業(株)社製なお、本実施例では、第2の位相差板7とポリカーボネートフィルム13の部分による位相差の合計が1/4波長の位相差となるように設計した。つまり、ポリカーボネートフィルム13の偏光性は非常に小さいが、40〜50nmの位相差の偏光性を持っている。第1の位相差板11は1/4波長になっているために、第2の位相差板7に1/4波長のものを使用すると、色相や透過率等の光学特性に微妙な変化を来す。この誤差を改善するために、第2の位相差板7の位置を調整して、さらに、第2の位相差板7とポリカーボネートフィルム13の部分の位相差の合計が1/4波長の位相差となるようにした。本実施例においても、実施例1と同様の効果が得られる。

Claims (1)
- 透明導電膜を備えた透明タッチパネルを有する液晶表示装置であって、2枚のガラス基板の間に液晶を挟んで構成される液晶表示装置において、
前記透明タッチパネルは、表面に透明導電膜を形成した2枚の透明基板がその透明導電膜を対向させるように配置されたものであり、
前記透明タッチパネルを構成する2枚の透明基板のうちの一方の透明基板をガラス基板で構成し、このガラス基板によって前記液晶表示装置を構成する一方のガラス基板及び位相差板を兼ねるようにし、
前記兼用のガラス基板の上に透明導電膜が形成されたものであり、前記透明タッチパネルを構成する2枚の透明基板のうちの他方の透明基板における前記透明導電膜形成面と反対側の表面に円偏光板が形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
