Abstract
Description
本出願は、2012年5月17日に出願された同時係属中の米国仮出願第61/648,520号の利益を主張するものであり、その開示内容全体が参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。
本明細書に用いられる「混成」は、2つ以上の異なる要素、本発明との関連では2種以上の異なる繊維種、2種以上の異なるテープ種、またはそれらの組合せを結合して作られた物の通常的かつ慣習的意味を有する。「混成プライ」は複数の繊維を含んでもよく、この複数の繊維は少なくとも2種の物理的に異なる繊維種を含み、この物理的に異なる繊維種は少なくとも1つの異なる物理的特性を有する。あるいは「混成プライ」は複数のテープを含んでもよく、この複数のテープは少なくとも2種の物理的に異なるテープ種を含んでもよく、この物理的に異なるテープ種は少なくとも1つの異なる物理的特性を有する。
実施例1
本発明による混成繊維プライを作るために、高圧空気噴流を用い650デニールSPECTRA(登録商標)1000繊維束を500デニールアラミド繊維と混合する。これにより1100デニール混成繊維となる。この混成繊維から種々の1ポンド混成繊維糸巻きを作る。次にこれらの糸巻きを用いて、その繊維を53g/m2(gsm)の繊維面密度を有する複数のユニテープに変換する。そのユニテープを樹脂槽に浸漬して、水性系ポリウレタン樹脂(例えばBayer DISPERCOLL(登録商標)U53樹脂)を塗布する。次に各ユニテープを加熱炉に通して揮発成分を除去する。完全に乾燥させると、このユニテープの樹脂含有量は16±2%である。その後これらのユニテープを交差させて重ね合わせて、0°/90°材料の連続した2プライのロールを作る。
繊維プライを650デニールSPECTRA(登録商標)1000繊維100%で作ること以外は、実施例1の過程を繰り返す。繊維を同じ樹脂で被覆し、樹脂含有量を同じにする。ユニテープを交差させて重ね合わせて、0°/90°材料の連続した2プライのロールを作る。

実施例1〜3の各々から複数の30cm×30cm繊維プライを切断し、0°/90°交差プライ構成を維持して積み重ねる。次に各積層品を200トンの水圧プレス機に取り付けられ120℃に予備加熱された型内で成形する。各材料の積層品を型内で成形圧を加えずに20分間予備加熱する。20分後、完全な締結圧を加える。15分の成形の後に冷却周期を開始する。冷却周期の間は成形圧を解除しない。この過程により積層品が一体化した板に変換される。板が50℃に達したら型を開け、板を試験に供する。
