Abstract
【解決手段】 本発明のハニカム構造体1は、多孔質のセラミックスよりなり、軸方向にのびる複数のセルをもつハニカム基材2と、ハニカム基材2の周方向の外周面を被覆したセラミックスよりなる外周材層4と、を有するハニカム構造体であって、外周材層4が、略球状の細孔を有することを特徴とする。

Description
実施例のDPF用ハニカム構造体の製造方法を以下に示す。
まず、実施例1と同様にしてハニカム基材2を製造した。
まず、平均粒径12μmのSiC粉末75重量部、平均粒径10μmのSi3N4粉末20重量部、平均粒径15μmのC粉末5重量部を秤量し、有機バインダとしてメチルセルロースを加えたものに水を加えて適度の粘性にしたものに界面活性剤を加えて混合、混練した。得られた粘土を所定の形状の開口部を備えた型を用いて押出成形法で成形し、乾燥した。この成形体は、断面が正方形の角柱状をなし、かつ断面が正方形状に区画されたセルをもつ。
本比較例は、外周材スラリーが中空樹脂粒子粉末を含有していないこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして製造されたハニカム構造体である。

実施例1〜2及び比較例1のハニカム構造体の評価としてヒートショック試験を施した。

Claims (9)
- 多孔質のセラミックスよりなり、軸方向にのびる複数のセルをもつハニカム基材と、
該ハニカム基材の周方向の外周面を被覆したセラミックスよりなる外周材層と、
を有するハニカム構造体であって、
該外周材層が、略球状の細孔を有することを特徴とするハニカム構造体。 - 前記外周材層は、セラミックス粒子粉末と結合材と略球状の造孔剤とが混在した状態で熱処理して、該セラミックス粒子を結合させるとともに該造孔剤を消失させてなる請求項1記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記略球状の造孔剤は、中空の樹脂粒子、略球状の炭素粒子、略球状の炭素化合物粒子から選ばれる少なくとも一種よりなる請求項2記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記略球状の細孔は、短径と長径の比が0.8以上である請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記外周材層は、25%以上の気孔率を有する請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記ハニカム基材は、
多孔質のセラミックスよりなる複数のハニカム分体と、
複数の該ハニカム分体同士を接合する接合材層と、
から構成される請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体。 - 多数の該セルのうち所定のセルの一方の端部を封止する封止材よりなる一端封止部と、
残余の該セルの他方の端部を封止する封止材よりなる他端封止部と、
からなる封止部を有する請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記外周材層は、チタン酸アルミニウム、炭化珪素、窒化珪素、コーディエライト、ムライトより選ばれる一種を主成分とする請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記ハニカム基材は、炭化珪素を主成分とする請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体。
