ここに、nは、用いるはんだのクリープ速度の目安であり、前指数因子Aは、ガラスと電気コネクタとの間の冷却率、即ち差分の熱膨張率を表している。この時間依存性のクリープ現象は、固体が一定の応力にさらされているとき、例えば上方から荷重が固体に作用するときに発生する。固体は、適用した応力の向きにクリープを起こし(変形を起こし)、弛緩化し始める。場合によって、固体は、弾性限界を超えて変形を起こすため、恒久的なプラスチック変形をもたらしうる。
a)コネクタを形成する金属の厚さt、及び
b)コネクタブリッジ部分の高さh。
金属の厚さの影響を判断するために、公称の厚さ0.5mm及びlmmを有する銅の条片と1mmの高さのブリッジから形成した複数のコネクタ標本を、厚さ4mmの平坦なガラス標本にはんだ付けした。実際のグレイジングへとはんだ付けしたコネクタに対する応力を測定するのが可能ではなかったので、各テストは、平坦なガラス標本に取り付けたコネクタに対して行った。次に、2つの金属の厚さにおける応力のふるまいを測定した。この測定は、測定した応力値が対応して低くなる従来からのコネクタのふるまいに対する指針として用いた。図7は、各々が異なる厚さを有する種々の金属コネクタに対して、バビネ補償板を用いて図6bに示すスケールに沿って測定したガラスのプライの内部における応力の変化を示す図である。使用したはんだは、42重量%の錫、57重量%のビスマス、及び1重量%の銀からなる(これは、7 Newmarket Court、Kingston、Milton Keynes、MK100AGのIndium社(英国)から利用可能である)。この応力測定は、はんだ付け工程直後、及びはんだ付け工程から24時間後に行った。また、各標本は、各測定間で室温を維持している。
図8a、図8b、図8c、及び図8dは、図6bに示すように、バビネ補償板を用いて異なるブリッジの高さを有する4つのコネクタに対して測定した、コネクタに沿ったガラスのプライにおける応力を示す一連のグラフである。鉛含有はんだは、25重量%の錫と、62重量%の鉛と、3重量%の銀と、10重量%のビスマスとからなる合成物であり、上述したように、この鉛含有はんだ(ドイツ国、Gutleutstrasses 215、 PO Box 110403、D60039、Frankfurt−am−MainのFerro AGから入手される銀含有インキSP1876)は、4mm厚さの平坦なフロートガラスにおいて、(ニュージーランド国、Fregatweg 38、6222 NZ MaastrichtのJohnson Matthey社から入手されるブラックセラミックインキIT57M202を使用して印刷された)掩蔽バンドに印刷されたバスバーに、コネクタをはんだ付けするのに用いた。

- グレイジング材のプライに取り付けられた第1導電コンポーネントと、鉛フリーはんだによって前記第1導電コンポーネントに結合された第2導電コンポーネントとを有するグレイジング材のプライを備えるグレイジングであって、前記第2導電コンポーネントは、厚さtを有し、且つブリッジ部分によって連結された第1コネクタ脚と第2コネクタ脚とを備え、前記ブリッジ部分は、各コネクタ脚の上方に高さhの位置にあり、前記t及び/又は前記hは、はんだ付けする領域におけるガラスの応力による疵の発生を最小にするように選定されていることを特徴とする、グレイジング。
- 前記tは、0.1mmから1.0mm以下の範囲にあることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のグレイジング。
