Description
「電源」なる用語は、入力および出力を備え、入力で提供される第1形態の電気を変換し、第1形態の電気を第2形態の電気に調整し、出力に第2形態の電気を提供するシステムを定義するのに使用する。電源は、入力において所定のレンジの形態の電気を取り込み、この電気を所定のレンジの形態の電気に調整し、これを出力に提供することができる。
電圧変換手段は、電源から受取った電圧を入力信号に基づいて第1の大きさから第2の大きさの電圧に変換するための手段を提供している。第1の大きさと第2の大きさとは同じでもよいし、または異なってもよいし、1つ以上の電子デバイスの1つ以上のストリングにわたり、必要とされる電圧低下に依存してもよいことが容易に理解できよう。
調光制御手段は、この制御手段の関連する1つ以上の電子デバイスの活性化を制御するための手段を提供する。この調光制御手段は、1つ以上の電子デバイスの両端の間の比較的安定した電流レベルの供給を制御するようになっており、この場合の制御はデューティサイクルから独立して行われる。
検出手段は、1つ以上の電子デバイスを通って流れる電流のフィードバックを電圧変換手段に送るように構成されている。このように、電子デバイスの活性化期間中、1つ以上の電子デバイスを通過する電流を比較的一定のレベルに維持できる。
駆動制御装置は更にフィードバック手段を備え、このフィードバック手段は電圧変換手段および電流検出手段に結合されており、1つ以上の電子デバイスの負荷を通過するように流れる電流を示す電流検出手段の両端の間の電圧降下を示すフィードバック信号を、電圧変換手段に供給するようになっている。従って、このフィードバック手段は、電圧変換手段により1つ以上の電子デバイスにその作動のために供給される電圧の大きさを適当に制御するための手段となっている。

Claims (20)
- 1つ以上の電子デバイスのストリングに供給される電流を制御するための駆動制御装置であって、
a)電源から第1の大きさの電圧を受取り、制御信号に応答してこの第1の大きさの電圧を第2の大きさの電圧に変換するように構成されている電圧コンバータと、
b)前記第2の大きさの電圧および調光制御信号を受取るように構成され、この調光制御信号に基づき、前記ストリングへの前記第2の大きさの電圧の送出を制御すると共に、複数のモードで作動をするように構成された調光制御手段とを備え、前記調光制御信号は、前記調光制御手段の望ましい作動モードを指示し、
c)前記ストリングと直列接続され、前記ストリングを通って流れる電流を示すフィードバック信号を発生するように構成されている電流検出手段と、
d)前記電圧コンバータおよび前記電流検出手段に電気的に結合されており、前記フィードバック信号を受取り、このフィードバック信号に基づいて前記制御信号を発生し、更に前記電圧コンバータに前記制御信号を提供するように構成されているフィードバック手段とを備える、駆動制御装置。 - 前記調光制御手段は、デュアルモードで作動をするように構成されている、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記調光制御信号が所定の閾値よりも高いデューティサイクルを示すとき、前記調光制御手段は第1モードで作動するように構成されている、請求項2に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記調光制御信号が所定の閾値よりも低いデューティサイクルを示すとき、前記調光制御手段は第2モードで作動するように構成されている、請求項2に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記所定の閾値は5%と30%の間にある、請求項3または4に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記所定の閾値は10%である、請求項5に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記調光制御信号は、デューティサイクルおよび基準電圧を示す、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記調光制御信号はデューティサイクルを示し、前記調光制御手段は更に受取った基準電圧信号に応答する、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記電圧コンバータはDC−DCコンバータである、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記電圧コンバータは、バックコンバータ、ブーストコンバータ、バック−ブーストコンバータ、チュークコンバータおよびフライバックコンバータを含む群から選択されたものである、請求項9に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記電流検出手段は、固定抵抗器、可変抵抗器またはインダクタである、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記フライバック手段はサンプルアンドホールド回路を含む、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記ストリングは、アノードおよびカソードを有し、前記電圧コンバータは、前記電圧コンバータと前記電源との間で前記ストリングのアノードを電気接続するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記ストリングは、高圧側端および低圧側端を有し、前記調光制御手段は、前記ストリングの低圧側端に電気的に接続されている、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 前記ストリングは、高圧側端および低圧側端を有し、前記調光制御手段は、前記ストリングの高圧側端に電気的に接続されている、請求項1に記載の駆動制御装置。
- 1つ以上の電子デバイスのストリングに供給される電流を制御するための方法において、
a)前記ストリングを通過するように流れる電流をサンプリングするステップと、
b)前記サンプリングされた電流を示すフィードバック信号に応答し、第1の大きさの電圧から第2の大きさの電圧に電圧を適応的に変換するステップと、
c)調光制御信号に基づき、前記ストリングへの前記第2の大きさの電圧の提供を制御するステップとを備え、この制御ステップを、前記調光制御信号に基づき、適応的に変更する、電流を制御するための方法。 - 前記第2の大きさの電圧を提供するステップは、前記調光制御信号が所定の閾値よりも高いデューティサイクルを示すとき、第1作動モードに基づいて実行される、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の大きさの電圧を提供するステップは、前記調光制御信号が所定の閾値よりも低いデューティサイクルを示すとき、第2作動モードに基づいて実行される、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記所定の閾値は5%と30%の間にある、請求項17または18に記載の方法。
- 前記所定の閾値は10%である、請求項19に記載の方法。
