Description

The present invention relates to an LED display device which is used, for example, in a display unit of a portable device and is configured by arranging light emitting elements made of LEDs in a matrix, and particularly relates to a mounting structure thereof.

An LED display device is widely used as a display device capable of displaying high brightness with low power consumption. For example, when used in a display unit of a portable terminal, a display window is formed on a housing surface that stores electronic components, and an LED display panel in which a plurality of LEDs (light emitting diodes) are arranged in a matrix is provided. The display of the LED display panel is controlled.
As a conventional technique using an LED display device in a foldable mobile phone, for example, what is arranged as an incoming call information display unit that displays a character on the outer surface of a housing when folded, is known, Specifically, LEDs as a backlight are arranged on the substrate, each LED is surrounded by a partition, and an internal layer (diffusion sheet) for diffusing the LED light is formed on the upper surface, and a display character is formed. The character layer to be provided is provided, and the decorative panel portion is provided outside the character layer (see Patent Document 1).
For technology that prevents interference due to light emission from adjacent LEDs, and increases the difference between the brightness during lighting and the brightness during non-lighting to improve contrast and improve visibility, for example, a grid of LED chips on a substrate There is known a display device in which a black plate-like mask member having a large number of lattice-like openings arranged at substantially the same pitch as this chip is arranged (see Patent Document 2).

特開2002−51135号公報(第3頁、図2)JP 2002-51135 A (page 3, FIG. 2) 特開2003−173149号公報(第2頁、図1)Japanese Patent Laying-Open No. 2003-173149 (second page, FIG. 1)

Since the conventional LED display device is configured as described above, when it is used for a display unit of a portable device such as a mobile phone and a mask member is used to improve the visibility, a grid pattern is formed on the LED. The mask member, the diffusion sheet, and the decorative panel must be prepared as separate parts, and the thickness and weight are increased, and the assemblability is reduced due to an increase in the number of parts. In addition, the lattice-shaped mask member has a manufacturing limitation in order to narrow the LED pitch or to provide a display design with a degree of freedom in the light emission shape.

The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problems. The LED can be reduced in thickness and weight, the number of parts can be reduced, the workability at the time of assembly can be improved, and the display design can be freely controlled. An object is to obtain a display device.

The LED display device according to the present invention shields light by leaving a plurality of LED elements arranged in a matrix on a substrate and a light-transmitting hole formed so as to face the LED elements and formed according to the arrangement of the LED elements. The light-shielding sheet | seat which formed the layer in the surface of the transparent base material, and the diffusion sheet which diffuses the light from the LED element which injects through a translucent hole are provided.

Further, the LED and a light-shielding diffusion sheet in which a light-shielding layer for shielding light leaving a light-transmitting hole formed in accordance with the arrangement of the LED elements and a diffusion layer for diffusing light from the LED elements are formed on the surface of the transparent substrate. It is prepared.

Further, a light shielding layer formed on the surface of the window member for protecting the display unit, the light shielding layer for shielding the light by leaving the light transmitting holes formed according to the arrangement of the LED and the LED element, and the diffusion layer for diffusing the light from the LED element. And a diffusion window.

According to the LED display device of the present invention, the light-shielding sheet in which the light-shielding layer is formed on the transparent substrate and the diffusion sheet for diffusing the light from the LED elements are arranged so as to face the LED elements. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the thickness and weight, improve the assembly workability, and obtain an LED display device having a degree of freedom in display design.
Moreover, since the light-shielding diffusion sheet in which the light-shielding layer and the diffusion layer are formed is arranged on the transparent base so as to face the LED element, the number of parts can be reduced, and the thickness and weight can be reduced.
Furthermore, since the light-shielding diffusion window in which the light-shielding layer and the diffusion layer are formed is arranged on the window member so as to face the LED element, the number of parts can be further reduced, and the thickness and weight can be reduced.

Embodiment 1 FIG.
Hereinafter, an LED display device according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the LED display device according to Embodiment 1, FIG. 2 is a partial cross-sectional view of the main part of FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 is a partial perspective view of the main part of FIG. The figure exemplifies the case where the LED display device is used for a display unit of a mobile phone. In the figure, in a case 1 of a two-fold type mobile phone, a display side case 1a for displaying characters and images and an operation side case 1b on which operation keys are arranged are rotatably connected by a hinge portion 1c. . The LED display device of the present invention is provided on the surface of the display side case 1a which becomes the front side when the case 1 is folded. The LED display device displays a pattern such as a figure, a character, or a pattern. As shown in the figure, a plurality of LED elements 3 are arranged on a substrate 2 in the form of a matrix arranged vertically and horizontally.

The light shielding sheet 4 is disposed so as to face the LED element above the light emitting surface of the LED element 3 so as to cover the LED element 3. As shown in FIG. 3, the light shielding sheet 4 has a light shielding layer 6 that shields the rest of the light-transmitting holes 6 a formed in a lattice shape in accordance with the arrangement of the LED elements 3 on the transparent base material 5 made of, for example, a PET sheet. It is formed by printing. The shape of the light transmitting hole 6a may be a square shape or a star shape in addition to the round shape as shown in the figure.
The light shielding layer 6 may be formed by bonding a thin film having a light transmitting hole, for example, in addition to the printing.

A diffusion sheet 7 that diffuses light from the LED elements 3 is disposed on the upper surface of the light shielding sheet 4. Further, a window 8 for protecting the LED element 3, the light shielding sheet 4, and the diffusion sheet 7 is provided on the upper surface of the diffusion sheet 7. The window 8 is formed using a transparent material such as acrylic or polycarbonate, or a smoke-treated material so that the LED element is difficult to see through the light transmitting hole when the LED element is turned off.

A method of attaching the above members to the case 1 will be described. As shown in the cross-sectional view of FIG. 2, the substrate 2 on which the LED element 3 is mounted is attached from the inside of the window portion that forms the LED display portion of the case 1. The window frame portion 1 d is provided with a step portion for attaching the window 8, and further, a minute step portion for attaching the light shielding sheet 4 and the diffusion sheet 7 is provided inside the step portion. First, the light shielding sheet 4 and the diffusion sheet 7 are positioned and fitted in order from the LED element 3 side to the minute stepped portion, and then the window 8 is fitted into the upper stepped portion and attached with the double-sided tape 9, and the window of the display side case 1a is fitted. Attach to the frame 1d.

Next, the operation of each part will be described. The plurality of LED elements 3 arranged in a matrix on the substrate 2 are selectively lit by a signal from a control means (not shown) provided in the LED display device, and display images such as characters and pictures. The light emitted from the lit LED element 3 is transmitted through the light transmitting hole 6a of the light shielding layer 6 of the light shielding sheet 4, is diffused by the diffusion sheet 7 through the transparent base material 5, passes through the window 8, and is emitted to the outside. A function as a display device is realized.

The light shielding sheet 4 prevents the interference of the emitted light between the adjacent LED elements 3, and increases the difference between the luminance at the time of lighting and the luminance at the time of non-lighting, thereby improving the contrast. The diffusion sheet 7 serves to uniformize and soften the light emitted from the LED elements 3 that have passed through the light transmitting holes 5 a of the light shielding sheet 4.

As described above, according to the invention of the present embodiment, a plurality of LED elements arranged in a matrix on a substrate, and a light transmitting hole that is arranged so as to face the LED elements and is formed in accordance with the arrangement of the LED elements. A light-shielding sheet in which a light-shielding layer that shields light is formed on the surface of the transparent substrate, and a diffusion sheet that diffuses light from the LED elements incident through the light-transmitting holes. Compared to a light-shielding device, the thickness and weight can be reduced, and the assembly workability is improved.
Furthermore, since the light shielding sheet is disposed above the LED element, it is possible to freely design without interfering with the LED element, and to provide an LED display device having a degree of freedom in display design. For this reason, in particular, the present invention can be effective when applied to a portable device such as a mobile phone that is required to be small and light and have high design.

For example, when the display screen becomes large and the intensity of the light emitting sheet 4 is insufficient, a simple reinforcing member may be partially added. FIG. 4 is an exploded perspective view showing an example of an LED display device to which a reinforcing member is added. As shown in the drawing, the reinforcing member 10 is inserted into the lower surface of the light emitting sheet 4 and bonded and fixed, whereby the strength of the light emitting sheet 4 is reinforced and the necessary strength can be maintained.

Embodiment 2. FIG.
5 is an exploded perspective view of the LED display device according to the second embodiment, FIG. 6 is a partial cross-sectional view of the main part of FIG. 5, and FIG. 7 is a partial perspective view of the main part of FIG. In the figure, 1 to 3, 8 and 9 are the same as those shown in FIG. 1 described in the first embodiment, so that the description of the reference numerals will be omitted and the differences from the first embodiment will be mainly described. In the present embodiment, the light-shielding diffusion sheet 11 is disposed above the LED elements 3 arranged in a matrix so as to face the LED elements. As shown in FIG. 7, the light-shielding diffusion sheet 11 is formed in a lattice shape in accordance with the arrangement of the diffusion layer 13 and the LED element 3 that diffuses the emitted light from the LED element 3 on the transparent base material 12 made of, for example, a PET sheet. The light-shielding layer 14 that leaves the light-transmitting holes 14a and shields the other portions is printed in order. And as shown in FIG. 6, the window frame part 1d which forms the LED display part of the display side case 1a is provided with a step surface for attaching the window 8, and the light shielding diffusion sheet 11 is attached inside the step surface. The window 8 is positioned and fitted to each step so that the light-shielding diffusion sheet 11 is sandwiched between the windows 8, and the window 8 is attached to the display-side case 1a with a double-sided tape 9. At this time, the light shielding layer 14 side of the light shielding diffusion sheet 11 is the LED element 3 side.
The shape of the light transmitting hole 14a of the light shielding layer 14 is not limited to a round shape, but may be a square shape or a star shape. The diffusion layer 13 and the light shielding layer 14 may be formed by attaching a thin film without using printing.

Next, the operation of each part will be described. The plurality of LED elements 3 arranged in a matrix on the substrate 2 are selectively lit by a signal from a control means (not shown) provided in the LED display device, and display images such as characters and pictures. The light emitted from the lit LED element 3 passes through the light transmitting hole 14a formed in the light shielding layer 14 of the light shielding diffusion sheet 11, is diffused by the diffusion layer 13, passes through the transparent substrate 12, passes through the window 8, and is emitted to the outside. Thus, the function as the LED display device is realized.

As described above, according to the invention of the present embodiment, except for the diffusion layer that is arranged so as to face the LED element and diffuses the light from the LED element, and the light-transmitting hole that is formed according to the arrangement of the LED element. Since the light-shielding diffusion sheet in which a light-shielding light-shielding layer is formed on a transparent substrate is provided, in addition to the effects of the first embodiment, the function of two parts of the light-shielding sheet and the diffusion sheet is replaced with one part of the light-shielding diffusion sheet. It is possible to simplify the assembly by reducing the number of parts.

As in the first embodiment, in order to enhance the strength of the light-shielding diffusion sheet, a simple reinforcing member may be added partially according to FIG.

Embodiment 3 FIG.
8 is an exploded perspective view of the LED display device according to Embodiment 3, FIG. 9 is a partial cross-sectional view of the main part of FIG. 8, and FIG. 10 is a partial perspective view of the main part of FIG. In the figure, since 1 to 3 and 9 are the same as those shown in FIG. 1 described in the first embodiment, description of the reference numerals is omitted, and the difference from the first embodiment will be mainly described. The present embodiment is characterized in that the light-shielding diffusion window 15 is disposed above the LED elements 3 arranged in a matrix so as to face the LED elements.

As shown in FIG. 10, the light-shielding diffusion window 15 is aligned with the arrangement of the diffusion layer 17 and the LED element 3 for diffusing light emitted from the LED element 3 on a transparent or smoke window member 16 made of, for example, acrylic or polycarbonate. Thus, a light shielding layer 18 is formed by printing in the order shown in the figure while leaving the light transmitting holes 18a formed in a lattice shape and shielding the rest. The light-shielding diffusion window 15 is fitted into a step portion for attaching a light-shielding diffusion window formed in the window frame portion 1d that forms the LED display portion of the display side case 1a, and is stuck and fixed by the double-sided tape 9. . As shown in the figure, the attaching direction is that the window member 16 is outside.
The shape of the light transmitting hole 18a of the light shielding layer 18 is not limited to a round shape, but may be a square shape or a star shape. The diffusion layer 17 and the light shielding layer 18 may be formed by attaching a thin film without using printing.

Next, the operation of each part will be described. The plurality of LED elements 3 arranged in a matrix on the substrate 2 are selectively turned on by a signal from a control means (not shown) provided in the LED display device, and display images such as characters and pictures. The light emitted from the lit LED element 3 passes through the light transmitting hole 18a formed in the light shielding layer 18 of the light shielding diffusion window 15, is diffused by the diffusion layer 17, is emitted to the outside through the window member 16, and is displayed on the LED. The function as a device is realized.

As described above, according to the invention of the present embodiment, except for the diffusion layer that is arranged so as to face the LED element and diffuses the light from the LED element, and the light-transmitting hole that is formed according to the arrangement of the LED element. Since the light shielding layer that shields light is provided with the light shielding diffusion window formed on the window member for protecting the display unit, in addition to the effects of the first embodiment, the functions of the three parts of the light shielding sheet, the diffusion sheet, and the window are provided. Since a single component can be substituted, the number of components can be reduced and the display device can be thinned. For this reason, the effect of light weight reduction can be raised especially when applied to a portable terminal.

The present invention can be widely applied to various mobile phones such as a straight type and a two-fold type and mobile devices such as mobile terminals.
