Abstract

992,876. Making collapsible tubes; spinning. FLEXILE METAL CO. Ltd. April 7, 1964 [May 2, 1963], No. 17380/63. Headings B3A and B3J. [Also in Division B8] A collapsible metal tube 1 is manufactured with two concentric tubular portions 2, 3 and a plastic nozzle member 7 seated therebetween, the member 7 having an extension 11 within the discharge portion of the tube. The tube 1 is formed by impact extrusion and the tubular portion 2 has an excess length to facilitate handling. When this length is trimmed burrs and particles are formed and the extension 11 prevents these being entrained by the tube contents. The sleeve portion 12 of the nozzle member 7 is provided outwardly with knurling or serrations and the tubular portion 3 is spun over into engagement therewith.
