[Also in Division H2] The motor 12 driving the compressor 10 is cooled by liquid refrigerant sprayed into the space 43 between the rotor and stator through nozzles, not shown, the liquid refrigerant being supplied by pipe 48 from the condenser outlet pipe 22 as shown, or a liquid refrigerant sump in the evaporator 38, or the float valve chamber 24, or a sump in the condenser 20. Pipe 48 may include a pump. The evolved vapour is supplied to the evaporator inlet through pipe 50.
