Abstract
998,757. Holders for blasting detonators. CANADIAN INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 12, 1964 [June 20, 1963], No. 24489/64. Heading F3A. A device for securing a detonator in a borehole is made of a resilient synthetic material, e.g. polyethylene, and comprises a sleeve 1 to receive the detonator 6 and at least three equispaced arms 2, 3, 4, extending radially from the sleeve. The overall diameter of the device is greater than that of the borehole 8, so that the arms are pressed against the walls of the hole. The device may be used when detonating a freeflowing blasting explosive such as ammonium nitrate/fuel oil mixtures or ammonium nitrate/ fuel oil/metal mixtures. Low energy detonating fuze 7 with a core of 0À1 to 10 grains per ft. of high explosive may be used to initiate the detonator 6. Specification 800,676 is referred to.
