Abstract
983,794. Reinforced concrete floors and roofs. RAPID FLOOR CO. Ltd. Jan. 21, 1964 [Nov. 2, 1962], No. 41544/62. Heading E1V. An infill unit 1 for a concrete floor is made of a fibrous material e.g. wood wool, bonded with a cementitious material, and has side walls 13 inclined inwardly from the top surface 2 and lips 8 extending outwardly from the bottom 4 of a depth sufficient to provide the required thermal insulation. A reinforced concrete floor may comprise a number of parallel units 1 as in Fig. 2, the walls 3 of adjacent units defining moulds 12 within which are reinforcing bars 13, connected to higher bars 14 by ties 15, concrete 17 being cast over the top of the units 1 to extend into the moulds 12 to form webs. A weatherproof membrane 16, e.g. of synthetic plastic material, is placed between the units 1 and the concrete 17. Alternatively, or in addition, the units 1 may initially be coated with a waterproof material over at least the surface 2 and walls 3.
