Abstract

958,810. Valves. NORDISKA ARMATURFABRIKERNA A.B. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 5, 1960], No. 28460/61. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a housing 1 having an inlet 5, an outlet 7 and an annular valve seat 18. A bowl-shaped sealing diaphragm 17, having a cylindrical skirt connected to a slightly bulging mid-section by a curved portion, carries a valve closure 16 actuated through a spindle 11. The diaphragm 17 is welded around its entire circumference at 17a to the housing to prevent leakage to the spindle 11. The diaphragm may have an aperture to receive the closure which is welded to the diaphragm or the closure may be directly spot welded to an unapertured diaphragm. When the valve is closed the diaphragm assumes the form shown in dotted lines, the mid-portion being bent inwards and the connecting curved section outwards. A stuffing box, comprising a bush 12, gasket 13 and gland 14 may be provided for the spindle 11. The inlet 5 terminates in a widened portion which reduces the lift height for full flow.
