Abstract
949,864. Frying pans. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. Jan. 10, 1961 [March 16, 1960], No. 1025/61. Heading A4A. A circular, square or rectangular electric frying pan 1, Fig. 1, having a heat-insulated handle 4 and three or four heat-insulated legs 3 is supportable in a tilted position by hingeing down an auxiliary leg 9 having an oval pivot pin 15 coacting with a spring 13 so as to urge the leg 9 into the operative position shown or an inoperative horizontal position, e.g. lying against the probe 5 of a temperature control where the pan is as described in Specification 880,033 with an integral or brazed-on heating element 6 the terminals of which are on either side of the probe 5 and have a guard socket 12. Modifications. In Fig. 4 the auxiliary leg 9<SP>1</SP> is beneath the handle 4 and pivots in a stainless steel spring 13<SP>1</SP>. In Fig. 7 the auxiliary leg 9<SP>11</SP> is beneath the combined handle and control element of a pan as described in Specification 772,268 and pivots in a spring 13<SP>11</SP> attached to the cover 23 of a chamber 10<SP>1</SP> containing a bi-metallic element. In Fig. 9 (not shown) the auxiliary leg is beneath the solid or switch-containing pan handle and pivots in a spring 32, Fig. 12, the fixed end of which has tabs 41 so that it may be lockingly inserted in a slot in the under surface of a pan base heating element.
