939,686. Determining relative quantities of fluid mixture constituents. W. G. PYE & CO. Ltd. Sept. 1, 1960 [Sept. 4, 1959], No. 30269/59. Class 37. In a gas chromatograph apparatus incorporating a capacitor C and a balanced amplifier A connected together as a feedback integrator whereby signals I+I emanating from the chromatograph detector are integrated, a current is provided at terminal Z for backing-off the standing current produced in the detector. The single capacitor may be replaced by a number of capacitors of different values which may selectively be placed in circuit by a simple switching arrangement. A switch may be provided to give a direct reading of the detector output, the switch substituting a resistor for the capacitor. The capacitor can be short circuited for resetting purposes by manual switching, clock operated contacts or contacts on the indicator. The effect of such contacts is described with reference to Figs. 3-6 (not shown). A suitable balanced amplifier which reduces zero drift is described with reference to Fig. 7, the point X being maintained at nearly constant potential regardless of the output level by feeding the output signal to the dummy half.
