Abstract

921,617. Reciprocating pumps. B.LOPATER July 6, 1961 [July 11, 1960], No. 24538/61. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXIII]. A windscreen washer includes a reservoir 1 having an opening 5 and a well 3 in which is fitted a pump 6 housing on electromagnetic coil 13 which may be actuated to displace upwardly a hollow piston 23 in the central bores 8, 9 of the pump. Upward displacement of the piston causes discharge of cleaning liquid in the bore 8 through delivery pipes 18, 19, simultaneously filling the bore 9 via the grooved seating 20 and a valve 21. Downward, return movement of the piston 23 causes closure of the valve 21 and displacement of liquid from the bore 9 via a valve 26 into the bore 8. Component parts may be of plastic or plastic covered.
