Abstract
927,055. Projectile fuzes. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES S.A. Feb. 21, 1961 [March 1, 1960], No. 6280/61. Class 9 (1). An electric generator, for projectiles with relatively low acceleration on launching, such as rockets or rifle grenades, comprises a casing 3, coil 4, bar magnet 5 and a casing 12 which houses a capacitor connected to the firing circuit by means of a flexible wire 13. The casing 3 is slidably mounted in a cylindrical housing 8 of the projectile and is normally prevented from moving rearwardly by a screw 9 which bears on a disc 10. The bar magnet 5 is slidably mounted within the coil 4 and this in turn is normally prevented from moving rearwardly relative to the coil by a wire 6. The disc 10 and wire 6 are both frangible and their relative strengths are such that disc 10 ruptures immediately on launching so that the generator sets-back due to inertia and wire 6 breaks with consequent set-back of the bar magnet when rear abutment 7 strikes the generator giving it a forward acceleration greater than the initial launching acceleration.
