Abstract
916,870. Blasting devices. SOC. DE PROSPECTION ELECTRIQUE SCHLUMBERGER. Aug. 18, 1959 [Oct. 20, 1958], No. 28268/59. Class 9 (1). A shaped explosive charge 2, for use in well bores, has a liner 5 which consists of or includes at least one alloyed or unalloyed metal, e.g. cerium or lanthanum, of the rare earth group. In Fig. 7, the charge is located in a case 1 by the conical lines 5 and is fired by a detonator 3. A stack of charges, in a cylindrical hollow body 8 in a well 9, is retained in an opening in the forward wall of the body by centrally recessed plugs 10, screwed into the opening, and in a recess 11 in the rear wall of the body. The liner may be of copper, or other neutral substance, coated or partially coated on either surface with a substance including at least one metal of the rare earth group, and may also include another metal of the titanium group. In another embodiment, Fig. 8, the case 1 is provided with a tightly fitting stopper 12 and may be lowered directly into a bore-hole, without being first placed inside a hollow body. Liners produced by casting or stamping, or by sintering with or without a binder, are referred to.
