Abstract
1288956 Warheads MESSERSCHMITTBOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 17 Oct 1969 [26 Oct 1968] 51110/69 Heading F3A [Also in Division H2] A warhead comprises a rod 1 which is movable from a first position, in which a plurality of electrical detonators 2 are pyrotechnically screened by damping material 4 from a plurality of explosive charges 10, into a second position in which the detonators are aligned with transmission charges 6. Part of the damping material may be replaced by an annular explosive charge (11, Fig. 6, not shown). The detonators may be supplemented with amplification and flame charges. An electrical firing circuit for the detonators (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) is carried by the rod and includes oppositely wound, secondary inductive coils which in the first position are electrically screened from A.C. currents but in the second position are aligned with primary coils in the warhead. A condenser is initially charged by means of an A.C. current in the coils, but does not discharge through the detonators until a further current surge is experienced in the primary circuit.
