Abstract
916,348. Expanding-wheel gear. HARTRIDGE Ltd., LESLIE. May 19, 1961 [May 23, 1960], No. 18097/60. Class 80 (2). A variable-speed gear of the expanding pulley type comprises driving and driven pulleys 26, 52 on shafts 14, 20, of which pulley 26 is positively adjustable by a screw-operated lever 31 while pulley 52 is loaded axially by a spring 55, and pulleys 43, 47 on a layshaft 17, the movable discs 49, 50 of the pulleys being rigidly connected by a sleeve 51. As shown, all the pulleys are of the same diameter, but if pulleys of different diameters are used the lay pulleys may also be loaded by an axial spring, Fig. 2 (not shown). Specification 639,934 is referred to.
