905,852. Compacting soil. ABG.-WERKE G.m.b.H. Feb. 16, 1960 [Feb. 19, 1959], No. 5533/60. Class 68 (1). In a vibrating plate soil compactor, two vibrators 3, 4 are supported on the plate 1, one serving to drive the compactor forward and the other to drive it backward, and are driven by a single motor 7 through a gear-box 5 which allows the vibrators to be driven in alternation. A gear lever 12 is provided, and belt drives from the shafts 8, 9 to the vibrators are arranged on opposite sides of the gear box.
