Abstract

In a compression-mouldable synthetic polymer composition the polymer content consists of:-(1) A major proportion by weight of a copolymer of 90 to 70 weight per cent vinyl chloride and correspondingly 10 to 30 weight per cent of vinyl acetate and (2) A minor proportion of (a) a copolymer of at least 30 weight per cent vinyl acetate with the balance of vinyl chloride and/or (b) polyvinyl chloride having an intrinsic viscosity of 0,4 to 0,7 and, optionally (c) one or more of polyvinyl acetate, which may be partially hydrolized and/or acetalized; polyvinyl alcohol; vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetate copolymers and vinyl alcohol-vinyl chloride copolymers. Other ingredients present in the exemplary compositions are:-calcium stearate; dibasic lead stearate, carbon black; dioctyl phthalate; and triphenyl phosphate. The compositions are suitable for compression moulding microgroove records. In Example 1 it is stated that the preform when heated on a plate at 140 DEG C. may be left for a longer period before compression moulding than the conventional materials.
