Abstract

889,023. Disc brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Aug. 25, 1958 [Aug. 31, 1957; Oct. 19, 1957], Nos. 27487/57 and 32698/57. Class 103 (1). In a spring - applied fluid pressure released "spot" type disc brake, the friction pads 7 are normally held in engagement with the disc 1 by means of springs 9 and 10, in compression between pressure members 8 and the closed ends of a cylindrical recess in the member 11. The brake is released by applying pressure, through conduits 20, to the inner faces of pistons 13. A set-screw 21, which may be adjusted as wear of the pads 7 takes place, may be moved to limit the release movement of each piston 13. In an alternative embodiment, the coil compression springs, of which there may be three, are disposed coaxially between two pivoted arms, the lower ends of which act against the friction pads In a further arrangement, the applying springs are disposed to either side of the centrallydisposed fluid-pressure control piston. Specifications 688,382, 732,724, 771,113 and 774,700 are referred to.
