Abstract
867,245. Thermal switches. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. Ltd. July 3, 1959 [July 16, 1958], No. 22833/58. Class 38 (5). A switch for a refrigerator in which all adjustments can be made from one face comprises a bellows 12 acted on by the apex of a substantially " A " shaped leaf-spring 2, the legs of which are supported on lugs 3 bent from the casing 1. The centre portion of spring 2 has an aperture located on a spigot 4 extending from the centre of a range cam 5 adjustable by spindle 7. A raised part 6 adjacent the central aperture in spring 2 acts as a cam follower. The apex of spring 2 presses on a trimming-screw 10 threaded in the movable end-plate of bellows 12 and adjustable via a hole 14 in the casing 1. A tongue 23 extends from the apex of spring 2 to engage an arm 19 articulated at 17 to a switch arm 18 which is pivoted at 16 and moves an arm 26 (pivoted at 27) through the intermediary of a transverse bowed snap-action spring 28 as in Specification 829,660. The arm 26 carries a bridging contact 25 for co-operation with fixed contacts 24. The free end of arm 19 can move between a casing lug 20 and a screw 21, adjustable via hole 22 in the casing 1 to set the switch differential. An upstanding arm 30 formed on switch arm 18 can be engaged by a radial projection 29 on cam 5 to hold the contacts open when the spindle 7 is in one position.
