Class 146(3) A point protector for a reservoir pen comprising a metal cap 10 and an interior lining 11 of synthetic plastic material, is characterized in that the lining is deformed to provide internal grooves 37, 38 by a ring 33 rigidly secured to the pen body 32 when inserted in the lining, thereby ensuring a tight closure of the cap on the pen body. As shown, the lining 11 is of frusto-conical shape terminating in an end wall 12, Fig. 3. A part 15 of the lining 11 is thicker than the other part 16, a shoulder 19 being formed between the two parts. The part 16 is extended by diametrically opposed strips 20 and 21 one strip preferably being longer than the other. The liner is of nylon or other synthetic plastic material having mechanical properties similar to nylon. When the pen body 32 is inserted in the lining 11 within the cap, the ring 33 expands the cap 10 along the strips 20 and 21, thereby securing the cap tightly on the pen body. The portion 34, Fig. 7, of each strip 20 and 21, Fig. 4, adjacent the ring 33 is compressed to form the grooves 37, 38 in the strips 20, 21 respectively and elastically deforms the metal cap 10 in the region of the grooves.
