Abstract

631,195. Fountain pens. RODRIGUEZ, J. P. Jan. 24, 1947, No. 2305. Convention date, Jan. 25, 1946, [Class 146 (iii)] A cap 8 for a fountain pen comprises a short inner tube 2 and a longer outer tube 1 of substantially the same diameter as the barrel 22 ; the tube 2 being divided into resilient segments 16 and 17 by slits 6 so that a rim 4 around its mouth 5 engages a corresponding groove of the neck 10 of the pen. The outer tube 1 may also have slits and an annular projection 19 which engages a groove 9 on the barrel. The inner and outer tubes may be formed integrally or may be threaded together in which case a clip may be secured between the two tubes. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that when the cap is of metal flexible tongues provided between longitudinal cuts may be provided with internal projections stamped in the tongues which engage annular grooves in the pen body. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
