Abstract

820,032. Pinch valves. WARREN, MORRISON Ltd. Sept. 10, 1957 [Sept. 10, 1956], No. 27578/56. Class 135. In a pinch valve comprising a flexible pipe squeezed between jaws and having linkage arranged in conjunction with a ram to move the jaws parallely towards and away from each other when the ram is operated, straps 4 pivotally connected to the lower jaw 2 pass through slots in the upper jaw 1 and a sealing plate 9 and are pivotally connected to arms 7 mounted on fixed brackets 8 and carrying rollers 11 engaged in a slot 14 in a boss 15 connecting the ram 17 to the upper jaw. In a modification, the straps are screwed into and depend from the upper jaw and pass through holes in the lower jaw. The arms are mounted on fixed brackets disposed below the lower jaw and carry rollers at both ends. One end roller engaging a slot in the strap and the other end roller a slot in a depending extension of the lower jaw. Ram operation may be by a screw and hand wheel or by a compressed-air-operated plunger. U.S.A. Specification 2,659,387 is referred to.
