Abstract

829,319. Continuous-rod cigarette-making machines. MOLINS, D. W., and MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. Jan. 2, 1958 [Jan. 4, 1957], No. 436/57. Class 130. [Also in Group II] A passage for reducing tobacco stream inequalities, analogous to that of Specification 646,746, and comprising a belt 2, Fig. 1, a steel bridge plate 17 about one cigarette long, smooth side guides 19 and a steel belt 18 moving 2¢ times as fast as the belt 2, is incorporated in the apparatus of Specification 798,550 between the slow conveyer 2 and the pin-roller 10, the apparatus being otherwise modified by the addition of a roller 8A, Fig. 3, between the winnower 7 and the tobacco shower, by air-impelling means on the picker-roller 11, Fig. 1, to assist tobacco transfer thereby, e.g. auxiliary vanes 11B or picker teeth formed as blades, and by helical spacing of the picker teeth of the roller 11. The partition 9 may be slightly convex near the belt 2, the operative surface of which may have a light downward slope in the direction of its travel.
