813,398. Seats. LORENZ, A. Feb. 24, 1956 [March 1, 1955], No. 5826/56. Class 52(2) Relates to reclining chairs having a seat and back 122, 116 swingably mounted on a base 110 at 120, a leg-rest 156 being mounted on two pairs of pivoted links, the front links 142, 134 of the pairs being pivoted to the leg-rest, the rear links 128, 136 being pivoted respectively to the seat and the base and the links 128, 142 being pivoted intermediate their ends at 144. According to the invention, the projection of the leg-rest is effected by a connecting link 172 pivoted to one of the rear links and to a guiding link 168 pivoted at 170 to the base, the guiding link 168 being swung forward by a connection between it and a downward extension 118 of the back rest 116. As shown, connecting link 172 is pivoted to the rear link which is pivoted to the base and extension 118 is connected to guiding link 168 by a pivoted link 178. A link 162 between rear link 136 and the seat guides the latter. In a modification the connecting link is pivoted to the rear link which is pivoted to the seat and is extended rearwards beyond the guiding link, the rear end being pivoted to the extension of the back rest. In a further modification, the seat and back are integral, the arrangement being as described with reference to Fig. 2 except that link 162 is omitted and connecting link 172 is pivoted to the rear link which is pivoted to the seat. Movement limiting abutments and means for locking the chair in adjusted position may be provided.
