Abstract
770,737. Strain-recorders. LUNDBERG, B. K. O. June 8, 1955 [June 9, 1954], No. 16514/55. Class 106 (2). The occurrences of elongation changes due to changing loads, e.g. in the structure of an aircraft or of a ship, are mechanically transmitted to recording counters. A beam 9, Fig. 1, is secured at 11 to the structure 1 and passes through a bearing 5 on a plate 3 secured to the structure 1 at a distant point 7. The relative movements of the beam 9 and structure 1 are counted on recording counters 17, 19, one for each direction of movement, by resilient pawls 13, 15 mounted on the beam 9, locking pawls 21, 23 being provided. As shown, the counters record positive or negative changes in elongation of the structure 1 which exceed a predetermined magnitude. In a further embodiment, the movements of the beam 9 are amplified by a lever system before application to the counters. In another embodiment, the amplified movements of the beam 9 rotate the drive of a recording surface, the recording means itself being connected also, through a lostmotion device, to the levers amplifying the beam movement.
