Abstract

776,927. Band clips. WAITE, H. K. May 6, 1955 [May 6, 1954; July 13, 1954], Nos. 13174/54 and 20395/54. Class 44. Means for securing the loose end of a line, thread or the like wound around a reel, spool or drum to prevent the line, thread or the like becoming slack or unwound when the reel, spool or drum is not in use comprises an elastic band of appropriate size and width formed at one part with a tab 11 providing a thumb and finger grip the elastic band also being formed adjacent to the tab with holes 12 (Fig. 1), each slit to provide a nick 13 or with two spaced resilient buttons 16 (Fig. 2), the grip tab itself also having a slit hole 14 therethrough. In use the elastic band is stretched to fit around the reel, spool or drum and the end of the line, thread or the like is secured by pulling it into one or more of the slit holes in the Fig. 1 construction or round the button in the Fig. 2 construction. In the Fig. 2 construction each button 16 may consist of a metal stalk 18 secured to a resilient head the stalk being secured to a rubber strip 19 which is itself secured to the outer surface of the elastic band. The band underneath the button and also underneath the tab 11 is reinforced by a strip 17.
