Abstract

An alloy for use in making heat exchangers (Group XXII) contains 0.35-0.55 per cent magnesium; 0.35-0.55 per cent silicon; 0-0.35 per cent titanium; 0-1 per cent manganese and the balance aluminium. Ancillary parts of the heat exchanger are made from an alloy containing 0.5-1 per cent magnesium; 0.75-1.25 per cent silicon; 0.2-0.35 per cent titanium; 0-1 per cent manganese the balance being aluminium. A brazing alloy containing 5-10 per cent silicon and the remainder aluminium is used in making the heat exchanger.
