Abstract
765,150. Rolling. SCHLOEMANN AKT.-GES. Feb. 28, 1955 [March 18, 1954], No. 5844/55. Class 83 (4). In a rolling mill for rolling continuous lengths of bar, successive billets 2 fed from a furnace 1 are passed through roughing stands 5, 6 which bring the billets to a uniform cross-section before they are joined together in welding apparatus 7. Shears 9 are placed immediately in front of the welding apparatus to cut and descale the billet ends. Shears 12 preceding the finishing stands 10, 11 sever the bar in the event of a break down.
