Abstract

1348579 Rolling mills FRIEDRICH KOCKS 19 April 1971 [16 April 1970] 27261/71 Heading B3M A multi-stand rolling mill comprises at least two interchangeable rows 10, 12 of stands 16, 16<SP>1</SP> only one row being in a rolling line at any one time, wherein rollers of a first diameter are transferred progressively from the last rolling stage 1 of row 10 to the first rolling stage 8, the rollers being refinished at each transfer, and the worn rollers from stage 8 are refashioned to a smaller second diameter and used in a similar manner in roller 12. Each stand 16 or 16<SP>1</SP> contains three disc-like rollers which define a sizing gap, and the rollers are refinished and transferred without removing them from their stands. The stands 16<SP>1</SP> are geared to produce the same peripheral roller speed as the corresponding stands 16.
