Abstract

739,421. Walls; beams. WOOLAWAY CONSTRUCTIONS, Ltd. Aug. 4, 1954 [Feb. 9, 1954], No. 3777/54. Class 20 (4). In concrete buildings which include vertical units such as stanchions, corner posts, &c. and horizontal units such as foundation members, beams, transoms, lintels, &c. assembled to form a framework into which slabs or panels are fitted, two precast horizontal units 1, 2, abutting at right-angles, particularly transoms, to form tees or corners, are connected by two or more cast-in bolts 7 projecting longitudinally from the end of one unit and received in transverse holes in the other, the bolts extending as far as a recess 10 in the further side face 11 of the second unit to permit nuts to be threaded thereon. Mortar is then inserted and screeded flush with the side face. One or both abutting surfaces may be coated with a mastic seal. The transoms shown have a groove 5 on the upper and a tongue 4 on their underface and nibs 6 which fit into the base of stanchions resting on the transom. Specification 595,849 is referred to.
