Abstract
734,959. Hinges. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT, Ltd. Feb. 19, 1954 [Feb. 19, 1953], No. 4668/53. Class 65(2). [Also in Group XXXIII] A control surface is hingedly connected to an aircraft wing (see Group XXXIII) by one or more conventional hinges and also by one or more hinges free to rotate about an axis chordwise of the control surface and capable of sliding movement along the said axis. As shown, an eyebolt 5 is pinned to the wing 2, and supports in its eye by means of roller bearings 12 an axle 9, extensions 10 and 11 of which are screwed into two part cylindrical members 8 which together fit into a cylindrical bore 7 in the control surface so as to be capable of sliding and rotating therein. Preferably a plurality of these hinges are disposed along the hinge line, with a conventional hinge at each end.
