Abstract

724,355. Agricultural implements. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. May 28, 1953 [June 2, 1952] No. 14885/53. Class 6 (1). Means for connecting an agricultural implement to a tractor comprises laterally spaced pairs of complementary shaft and socket members 30, 27 carried by a draw-bar structure 21 on the tractor and the implement respectively and latching mechanism automatically operable to lock the shaft and socket members together to form a rigid connection between the drawbar and implement. As shown the latching mechanism comprises a spring urged member 50 pivotally mounted on each socket 27 and slidable in a guide 48. When the shafts 30 are inserted in the sockets 27 each members 50 is raised by engagement with an inclined portion 56 of the shaft against spring 55 and engages in a slot 57 in the shaft. To release the shafts the members 50 are raised by means of a lever 61 connected to the members 50 by cables 62. Stops 34 are provided on the shafts to limit the entry of the shafts into the sockets. The drawbar assembly on the tractor comprises a U- shaped member attached by a clevis 24 to a plate 25 mounted for oscillation on a shaft 17. The front end of the drawbar is vertically adjustable by means of a link 63 connected to a power lift arm 64. The rear end of the drawbar is adjusted by means of a hydraulic ram 43 attached to a lever 40 fixed on a shaft 17. The shaft 17 is provided at each end with a lever 18 connected to the drawbar by means of a link 19.
