Abstract

702,661. Broom handles. THOMPSON, W. L. June 19, 1950 [May 5, 1949], No. 11993/49. Class 61 A hollow cr solid handle is secured to a broom by providing at one or both ends of the handle a tapered screw thread portion which is inserted into a non-threaded cylindrical socket in the head of the broom. The socket is smaller in diameter than the largest diameter of the screw-threaded portion of the handle and the screw is made of material as hard or harder than that of the broom head. As shown, a tubular handle 3 has secured to one end thereof a separate member 5 having a tapered and screw-threaded portion 4. The other end of the handle is fitted with a detachable resilient cap 7. A branch 8 with hose pipe connection 9 is provided. In a modification the branch 8 is dispensed with and the end of the handle to which the cap 7 is fitted is adapted to receive a hose pipe connection. In another modification, a solid handle has a short length at one end tapered and screw threaded.
