Abstract

Cements and concretes have added thereto both degraded proteins and an alkali metal or ammonium alkylarylsulphonate, the alkyl radicle having eight to 20 carbon atoms. Urea may also be present. The degraded proteins are preferably obtained by treating glue, albumin, blood, gelatine or soya with caustic soda. Specified sulphonates are octyl and dodecyl benzene sulphonates, but the aryl radicle may also be polynuclear.
