Abstract

659,442. Bayonet-joint fastenings. Mc- GEOCH & CO., Ltd., W., and McNEIL, A. March 4, 1949, No. 5953. [Class 44] [Also in Group XIV] A fastening comprises a bolt 1 having a cross bar 2 and a socket 5 formed with an opening 6 to receive the bolt and grooves 6A to engage the arms of the cross bar when the bolt is inserted and partially rotated and a spring urged plunger 7 arranged to move from the interior of the socket to fill the opening when the socke is vacant. The plunger 7 and spring 8 are accommodated in a housing 12 attached to socket 5. The plunge] carries a stop bringing it to rest with its outer face flush with the surface of the socket and a projection engaging in a vertical slot in the housing 12 preventing rotation. The bolt is enclosed in a spring- loaded sleeve 3.
