Abstract
658,140. Baling-presses. JONSSON, E. J. J. May 26,1949, No. 14181. [Class 94(i)] In a vertical baling-press in which the plunger 3 is carried by a rod or rods 7 reciprocable vertically in the cross-member 6 of a yoke 4 comprising arms 5 pivoted at the base of the press-box 1, so the yoke and plunger may be swung to an inoperative position determined by stops 16, the plunger is also movable laterally with respect to the cross-member whereby the opening of the press-box may be completely uncovered for filling purposes. As shown, the lower ends of the rods 7 are provided with shoes 10 slidable in guides 9 in the upper surface of the plunger. The rods are formed with rack teeth 14, in mesh with pinion 13 on a shaft 12 which is mounted in the cross-member and rotatable by a wheel 11 or lever 15 to raise and lower the plunger.
