Abstract
648,103. Thermal regenerators &c. for gas turbines &c. SMITH, D. M., and METROPOLITAIV-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 23, 1948, No. 30421. [Class 64(i)] In a reversible regenerative heat-exchanger, e.g. for use with a gas turbine, the flow of the high temperature heating and heated fluids is regulated by a positively actuated outlet valve 17 and inlet. valve 16 respectively, and by a non-return inlet valve 21 and outlet valve 20 respectively, actuated by the regulated fluid. The heat exchanger may comprise a number of regenerative chambers 1, 2, 3, or sections of a chamber, with connections to common inlets 11, 14 and outlets 10, 15 for the heated and heating fluids. Multiple non-return valves may replace the single non-return valves 20, 21. The valves 16, 17 may be actuated by power-driven control arms, or sequentially by cams on a powerdriven shaft.
