Abstract
645,957. Injectors. MINCHIN, L. T. Feb. 13, 1948, No. 4237. [Class 71] [Also in Group XI] An injector-mixer of the type in which a jet of one fluid entrains a second fluid into a mixing tube comprises an injector nipple consisting of a hollow body elongated ir a plane transverse to the direction of the fluid flow and terminating in one or more outlet apertures each of which extends wholly across the end wall in the direction of the small dimension of the elongated space but over a part only of the end wall in the direction of the larger dimension of the elongated space. The space 9 in the injector nipple 6 of a gas burner is elongated in section transverse to the gas flow and leads to an end wall provided with apertures 8 which are spaced lengthwise of the end wall but extend wholly across the width thereof; the side walls of the nipple converge on the end wall so that the nipple is wedge shaped. The mixing tube 7 is preferably oval or rectangular in section and is disposed with its major dimension at right angles to the major dimension of the injector nipple. The remote end of the mixing tube may be formed as an injector nipple leading into another mixing tube to provide a second mixing stage.
