644,502. Electromagnets. GUARDIAN ELECTRIC MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 18, 1948, No. 4837. Convention date, March 23, 1942. [Class 35] The coil 14 of a plunger type electromagnet is mounted within a magnetic housing 10 and has an inner sleeve 16 divided into a non-magnetic part 17 and a magnetic part 18, this sleeve containing a stationary magnetic plug 22 having a non-magnetic tubular extension 28 in which the plunger 23 slides. A nut 26 may be used to lock the plug 22 in any desired axial position. The cup-shaped housing is closed by an endplate 11 secured by bent-over tongs 12, and additional magnetic discs 19, 20 are secured to the ends to provide an adequate flux path.
