Abstract

917,534. Inductors. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 20, 1961 [June 23, 1960], No. 22260/61. Class 38 (2). The inductance of a high-frequency coil 3 in a two-part ceramic, magnetic pot core 5, is varied by passage through a central bore 9, of a tapered cylindrical control member 11 of elastic ferromagnetic material, the reluctance of the core varying according to the variation of the diameter of the part of the control member level with an air-gap 7 in the central stem of the pot core. The diameter of the control member which may be of powdered iron or ferrite in a rubber binder, is such that at one end only it is elastically compressed in the core. The control member may be glued in any desired position. A further embodiment uses an axially bored control member threadedly engaged to a axially displaceable bolt rotatable in an internally screw-threaded abutment, Fig. 2 (not shown).
