Abstract
620,185. Heating and cooling liquids in bulk. METERS, Ltd., and BARNES, H. V. Dec. 30, 1946, No. 38000. [Class 64(iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Consists in the combination of (1) a heater tube b having branches c and d extending at right angles from each end, with (2) two hollow couplings f of the kind which can be inserted into holes in the wall of a water tank a and tightened up from the outside, the arrangement being such that after one coupling has been fitted, the heater tube can be passed into the tank through the other hole, whereupon the other coupling can be fitted, one branch of the heater tube being secured within each coupling. In the form shown, the heater tube is closed at each end, the closures serving as tube plates for a nest of tubes e. Vents j and j<SP>1</SP> may be provided to ensure that the heater is full of water. External pipe connections k lead to a gas or other water heating unit.
