602,350. Starting prime movers. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. June 6; 1945, No. 14285. Convention date, June 8, 1944. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXVII] The Figure shows an ignition system for an internal-combustion engine (Group XXVII). Ignition at starting is effected by sending battery current into the primary 6 of a magneto 5 by means of electromagnetically operated contacts 35, 36 which are closed by a solenoid 29 when a switch 27 is closed and place the battery, the solenoid and the magneto primary in series, the usual contact breaker 9 which is connected across the magneto primary being utilised to vary current in the solenoid. The closing of switch 27 may also send current to a starting motor 23.
