608,613. Valve spindles. KUGLER FONDERIE ET ROBINETTERIE SOC. ANON. Oct. 3, 1945, No. 25693. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1944. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVI] In a valve, e.g. a domestic water tap, in which the closure member 3, actuated by a non-reciprocating screwed spindle 7, has a non- circular outer section slidably engaging the correspondingly shaped inner section of a threaded sleeve 9 forming the connecting-union between the valve cap 11 and the body 1, a shoulder 16 on the closure member is adapted in the fully open position of the valve to abut against the lower end of the sleeve 9, so that providing the cap 11 is prevented from rotating, rotation of the spindle 7 in the valve opening direction imparts axial movement to the sleeve and increases the pressure on the spindle packing 14.
