599,597. Stud-and-socket fastenings. DZUS, W. Sept. 21, 1945, No. 24570. [Class 44] In a, stud-and-socket fastening comprising a stud member of the spiral cam type having inclined slots, and a co-operating resilient element attached to the underside of one of the parts to be connected, for example, a fastening such as that described in Specification 414,290, the resilient element 17 i comprises a straight central portion 20, merging into portions 21 disposed at an obtuse angle to the portion 20, which in turn merge into coils 19 disposed at an angle to the portions 20. The coils are of about one and a half turns, the half turn 23 being of greater radius than the full turn 22, and the space between the turns less than the wire diameter. The stress due to fastening is absorbed by the coils 19 and not by bending of the central portion 20.
