587,418. Reversing-gear. HINDMARCH, T. Oct. 12, 1944, No. 19695. [Class 80 (ii)] Bevel reverse-gearing in which the bevels always rotate in the same direction, comprises bevel idlers f<2> on stationary spindles and meshing bevels f<1>, i<1>, either of which can be clutched to the driven shaft g by hydraulically actuated friction-clutches k<1>, k<2>, the driving bevel f<1> being secured to a spur-wheel f, which is driven by pinions on one or more parallel driving shafts d. The two driving shafts d shown can be selectively clutched at opposite ends by hydraulically-actuated friction-clutches c to pairs of aligned input shafts b and the driven shaft g drives a parallel output shaft h through a reducing pinion h'. The forward clutch k<1> is a double one and cocks l<1>, l<2>, l<3> &c. control the various clutches.
