Abstract
585,913. Spectacle lenses. BEACH, H. D: Dec. 2, 1941, No. 15524. [Class 97 (i)] Lenses, or blanks therefor, of uniform refractive index, have a zone 14 of higher curvature on one face 17 and a plurality of narrow zones 16, the curvatures of which gradually lessen away from the zone 14. The zones may be formed by grinding one surface of a thick blank having uniform thickness and plane or spherical concentric faces, and may be polished so as to merge one into the other. Any desired curvature may be worked on the face 12 of the lens. The zones may be concavities in the concave surface of the blank, and the lens may be finished to have a reading zone in the lower part, or as a cataract lons having the zone 14 centrally placed.
