Abstract

578,447. Making foam. NATIONAL FOAM SYSTEM, Inc. March 7, 1944, No. 4227. Convention. date, March 12, 1943. [Class 47 (ii)] A foam-generating device comprises an open cage-like member 15 within which convergent jets of liquid impinge against a divergent annular jet. Liquid from a conduit passes through the bore 21 of a member 20 mounted in a transverse web 16 of the generating device 14. As it enters a central bore 17 in the web 16 it entrains air entering through passages 22 in the web and then passes into the cage 15 through a divergent annular opening 29 formed between the inclined walls 30 of the bore 17 and a conical member 25. Liquid also passes by arcuate recesses 27 in either side of the web 16 to inclined orifices 28. In a modification, Fig. 11, water is fed from the conduit and entrains foam-forming solution through a passage 38 ; no air-passages 22 are provided in this construction.
